Can a doctor write a prescription for anyone, or lone for patients?

for example, if a nurse at a hospital needed a prescription and she asked one of the doctors to quickly write it up, could they? or if i had a friend that was a doctor could he a moment ago write me a prescription? (assuming he believed that it was not being abused or anything).
Answers:
They can write up prescriptions to anyone who have a problem or conditions, of course you can write it up for anyone but there are fakes out at hand that just want it for addiction like vicodin, So if it isn't for abuse its fine
It is unethical to prescribe medication to someone that is not a patient. The doctor wishes to be treating the person and you cannot treat family and should not treat friends as you cannot be objective.
It is done however it is not smart. Source(s): PA
A valid practicing doctor's prescription is valid for anyone. I know like doctors can write prescriptions for themselves. However prescriptions for things such as naurotics(sp) are closely watch, so like if someone were to start writing them to family member they could be flagged, and ultimately lose their license.
