Domperidone and Parkinson's Disease?

Does anyone know, why is domperidone (motilium) usually prescribed to patients diagnosed with Parkinson's ?

I have read abit and there are constant medications that could cause the nausea effect, what sort of medications? Can someone please hand over examples?

thanks!
Answers:
Nausea can be a side effect of both dopamine antagonists such as levadopa meds - Sinemet for example and of the antagonists such as Mirapex.

If the patient can live with the other side effects or doesn't own any other side effects, Motilium may be helpful if relieving the nausea. While it blocks dopamine, it does not cross the blood brain barrier (BBB) where it would sort things much worse for a patient who already had a severe loss of dopamine producing neurons.

The fact that it cannot cross the BBB is why it can be effectual for PD patients.

From what I read at Patients Like Me, not many PD patients are taking it however.
