Help near pharmacy totalling...?
If 500gm of dextrose are dissolved in 600ml of water, with the final volume person 1000ml, what is the percentage strength of the solution? I have 83% when dividing 500 gm into 600ml of water. After this i get confused as my book does not run into too much more depth as to what to do with the 1000ml final volume. Do I take the 83% and divide it into 10 to get the percentage strength into 100ml? Any minister to would be appreciated
Answers:
According to my pharmacy calculations book, the percentage weight-in-volume is the number of grams of solute dissolved in 100 ml of solution. I assume you are trying to find the percentage w/v. You need to divide your 500 g of dextrose by your 1000 ml of solution, NOT the 600 ml of hose down. Source(s): Pharmaceutical Calculations book, 12th edition
