Which is more essential, medically speaking?

Which is more important? Even though I am sure both are extremely important to people today.
Penicillin or Insulin ?
Answers:
Insulin. Without it you will definately die. Without penicillin, you may survive.

Mind you, lots more society have issues with infection than with diabetes...so for the world, penicillin have made a much greater impact in saving lives.
Insulin.
Not only for the reason pointed out by Sasha, but now, there are lots of alternative antibiotics. Of course, there are lots of different insulins too, but they're adjectives insulins. Rephrase, and put "antibiotics" as a general class in place of penicillin, and the answer changes.
