Does Doctor-Patient Confidentiality apply to those below age 18?
What are the chances that a Doctor will tell the parents of a minor about diverse things including sex? How can a minor talk to a doctor safely about sex while knowing it will be kept confidential from the parent/guardians?

I don't think they're obligated to say aloud anything unless you're in some kind of danger.I be under 18 and able to get birth control in need my mother knowing about it.Absolutely no problem keeping 100% confidentiality on the issue.This was in California, btw...can't vote I know what state you're in.

At least in the UK there are law and guidlines which apply to this kind of situation - Gillick compatancy (Scotland) and Frazer compatancy (England). If you are unsure tell your doc u dont want them to speak to your parents about what you are relating them. they will then tell u if they think this would be all right.

Yes, that is to say confidential between the minor and the doctor. Sorry for the parents but that is true. If a teenager wants to be see alone with no parent present that is the right of the patient specially if the teen shows readiness.
