Is it possible to tolerate non-lethal poison?

If you drink a small amount of nonlethal poison every day, is it possible that your immune system will be able to eventually take and tolerate it? and if it is possible, will it work for deadlier poisons?
Not that I'd drink poison or anything, not a soul should...just wondering

Ask your doctor.
I would not suggest you doing that. Ask a physician. Source(s): Feelings
Yup. There's even a word for it: Mithridatism (the practice of protecting oneself against a poison by gradually self-administering non-lethal amounts).

There are only a few practical uses of mithridatism. It can be used by zoo handler, researchers, and circus artists who deal closely with venomous animals. Mithridatization has be tried with success in Australia and Brazil and total imperviousness has been achieved even to multiple bites of extremely venomous cobras and pit vipers.

(But for goodness's sake, it's not something you would be advise to try at home.) Source(s): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mithridatis…
