Can someone administer me an explanation of the a range of medical degree (i.e. MD, MS, PhD, OD)?
I want to go to medical school in the adjectives, but I am very uncertain concerning the process, so I don't know what path I should clutch. On every website for medical school, I see OD, PhD, MS, and MD, but I am not sure what they mean, nor what course of study is required to attain these degrees. Thank you and God bless!

Hi,
MD-- This is a Medical Doctor, so that's the level you get once you complete medical school. This is what most doctors would have.
MS-- This is a Master's of Science point, which is usually after 6 years of school. 4 years to get your BS (bachelor of science), and usually 2 more to get your master's. In other field of study, like psychology, you would have a BA in psychology (bachelor of art) and MA of psychology (master of art). In science-relateon cloud nineds, it's a BS and MS instead.
PhD-- This means a doctor of philosophy, which you can get in conjunction to your MD. You can carry a PhD in many fields, including prescription, english, psychology, etc. It's just another step on the ladder to getting your MD or completing medical school. The number of years this take just depends on what field it is, but is considered going to post-graduate school once you've finished your Master's.
OD-- This is an optometry level. Optometrists are eye doctors. They list this separately because optometrists are not medical doctors (MD) like most other doctors.
So... If you want to be a doctor, you should go for your MD. An MS is only just a master's degree, which will not allow you to practice medicine in the traditional form. My parents are both surgeons and hold their MS, PhD, and MD.
Good luck, and good for you for wanting to go to medical school. Just start out by getting your bachelor's at a everyday college (4 years), then get your master's at graduate school, later you're off for medical school!
