Been taking .5 mg of Klonopin 1-2 times a afternoon for give or take a few 3 1/2 months and want to cut down. Should I taper?
I don't want to completely get off of klonopin, I just don't want to be on an every hours of daylight basis with it. Basically, if I don't want to be dependent, as my anxiety is becoming more manageable and klonopin doesn't work as powerfully anymore. My doctor said some people can just stop taking altogether, and said to try taking it every other day and be in motion gradually from there. But I read such horror stories about getting sour this drug. Any advice from anyone who's been through it?

Every person's body is different. Some people can feel quitting cold turkey, others can't. You should always taper off of a drug. Eventhough you haven't been taking it that long, you don't know how your body will counter. You don't want to risk having a stroke or something. Always consult your doctor first!
I was on 1 mg 1-2 times per day for over a year and didn't enjoy any trouble when I stopped using it. You can probably just stop, but if you're more comfortable tapering off, do it that method.
