Does an osteopathic doctor own to complete a residency after the 12 month internship?

can they just start practicing finally how much would they make?
Answers:
Basically, if an MD has to do it, so does a DO--residency, boards etc. You want to complete the residency unless you are doing medical research or something. Anything where you can see patients-you need the residency.
It used to be you could do so, and sit for the board examinations after being in practice for a number of years, but that practice be discontinued, I believe in the 1980's. Since board certification is pretty much mandatory if you want to get credentialed to practice anywhere or to bring hired, the answer is essentially no, though I don't know if would actually be illegal to. technically they can but no one would hire you. Everyone requirements to complete a residency. Source(s): medical student
