Why do doctors other stand during surgery?

It seems that they'd get really tired, given that some surgeries are so long. Is it a question of tradition, or is within a practical reason, or something somewhere in between?
Answers:
Yes, it can and does get quite tiring during long surgeries, but that's a moment ago the way it is. During most surgeries, things just aren't set up so that a surgeon can sit down, reach everywhere he desires do, and still stay sterile, so they stand.
It depends on the surgery, but I've often see them sitting, esp.now with adjectives the adjustable tables that can be lowered. Usually you have to look down over a body which you can't do if you are sitting. Try it.You can't see what you're doing. Above a body means you enjoy to stand and lean over. When you can tilt a table down, you can sit.It is a practical reason. Source(s): NJ RN
a chair would draw from in the way.
In case they have to move about immediately to get to something. But yeah, there are surgeons who sit and perform, it depends on the hospital's rules and personal preferences.

Doctors are pervs too so you never know what they're doing while you're out.
They don't always stand. Certain types of surgeries require it - belly cases, for instance. You hold to be above the hole, looking in, to see what you're doing.

Many hand surgeries, eye surgery, some gyn and urology procedures are done with the surgeon sitting. Source(s): Seen lots thousands of procedures.
It's completely a matter of practicality. Those procedures which can be done sitting are done that way. But it's rock-hard to look around down inside a deep hole if you're sitting off to one side.
you enjoy to stand to see what you're doing better and you can get whatever tools you need but sitting will cram the place with some chairs and will be somehow irritating
my father is also a surgeon but he does surgery white sitting on a chair and while drinking pepsi and consumption sandwich
