How come you can own diabetes near cirrhosis?
Thinking about this, the liver can't store carbs (glucose) because its damaged. Thats why a high carbohydrate diet is ordered usually. So since they can't store glucose, are they hyperglycemic because its in recent times floating there, or hypoglycemic? Thanks

Thinking about the anatomy. The duct through which secretions from the pancreas and the liver coalesce into one, and achieve the gut by the ampulla of vater.
Now when the liver gets inflamed and cirrhosed my guessing would be that this shared area of the duct somehow gets stenosed.
If this should transpire then the digestive enzymes the pancreas makes (and these are different from the insulin for dealing with glucose) would rear up and eventually auto digest the pancreas.
And so as the pancreas gets digested, both endocrine (making insulin) and exocrine (making digestive enzymes) functions of the pancreas would be reduced.
Thus diabetes would ocurr as a result of insulin not being produced.
This is just a proposition and I have no idea if there is anything out in that saying if this is correct or not, but makes sense don't you think?
