I know that in attendance is medical evidence that general public surrounded by a comatose state can still be aware of what is one said?

I also know that this also applies to severely comatose patients.
Can someone recommend a good book on this subject?

Thanks in advance.

Bob.
Answers:
There are degree of coma and conversely degrees of awareness, but a deeply comatose individual is by definition unaware. The seizure from coma is marked by lessening drowsiness and increasing awareness. Certainly it is possible to fail to assess the level of coma incorrectly and then be surprised by evidence of awareness, but I know of no medical evidence to support your idea.
