If after taking PAXIL for a 2 year time a being stops - cold turkey - what are some side effects?

My son did just that; he quit his daily dosage of PAXIL. It has be just 3 days since his last dose (40mgs) and he is having what I believe to be some "side effects."

I can turn online and peruse plenty of info about PAXIL.

However, I am interested in hearing from those of you out nearby who have taken PAXIL and stopped suddenly. If you know someone who has taken PAXIL and stopped cold-turkey, I would like to hear their story.

Anyone out near that can answer this because of your own or someone elses experiences?

Thank you in advance for your input.

The withdrawel can be bad, it does own a physically dependent tendencies because your son has been on it for so long. I give attention to the person that posted before me was person miinformed by the girl she was in jail next to, I think she was also using illegeal drygs because by law they are unacceptable to take you off of psychiaric medications that you are human being prescribed when you are in jail. They dont use insurance to pay for them, it is the county that pays for the medicine when you are in jail, so I think that girl be coming off of something else. But I am not downplaying the side effects at all because there is withdrawel after that long. He will probably consistency a little nauseated, irrtable, annoyed very easily, dizzy at time, he may own loos of attetite. I dont know how strong his dose was but those are some of the things he might experiences. I am a drug and alcohol counselor, and I was a therapist contained by the menatl health field for a couple years so I work with general public on psychiatric meds everyday, and it is never a good idea to stop them cold turkey. I dont know exactally why he was taking the meds, or if it be in conjunction with something else, for bipolar dosorder, or if it was depression or anxiety but usually they move about off their meds because they fel fine, and they dont realize that the reason they feel fine is because they are taking the medication. I dont know how matured your son is, but if he is under 18 I would get him back to his doctor and own the psychiatrist tell him how bad it is for him to stop taking the meds cold turkey if he really wants to stop taking them consequently their is a way to wean yourself off of it, and that would be his best bet. Good luck I wish you the best. Source(s): Certified addiction counselor, liscesed therapist
This story is going to sound bad but tolerate with me....Years ago I spent some time in jail and at hand was a girl in there next to me that had to go off her Paxil due to her insurance running out or something, but anyways, she be terribly irratable. I mean really bad. She have terrible headaches. All the girls in our pod have to be totally silent or she would snap and scare the living crap out of us. It lasted for days. It was horrible, I feel sorry for her. I don't know if it's like that for everyone, I hope not for your sons sake!
