I have one minocycline pill (tetracycline antibiotic) two years after the expiration date? Is this insecure?

I heard that it's probably not a big deal, but wanted to be sure
Answers:
No, it newly won't do anything. It doesn't go "bad" -- it just loses its effectiveness. It's a short time ago a sugar pill now.
If you take a medication after the expiration date, it just might not work as well. Drugs can lose their soothing ability if not taken within the time noted. Antibiotics esp. resembling tetracycline need to be taken as directed for they may cause you to not respond to the tetracycline if it is ordered for you again. It is not really dangerous, but it is not smart. Source(s): NJ RN
YES! The tetracyclines are some of the few drugs that in fact become toxic after they expire, especially 2 years after. I would suggest calling your Doctor. Source(s): Pharmacist
