I would presume that everyone would be save if they were reached in time...
Certainly a synthetic blood that did not have any antigens people might counter to, did not carry any diseases, and preferably could be stored for very long periods of time lacking the need for refrigeration without a degradation of function would be a huge finance, but it would not be a cureall. You don't generally die out in the field because of a deficit of blood cells, loss of volume is a much larger problem, and medics do carry saline which is used in trauma cases while a tolerant is getting to the hospital and blood can be transfused. Now, having a synthetic blood there which could just be used instantly fairly than having to type and cross a patient, match them to blood within the blood bank, and get that blood up to where it's needed would incontestably be helpful and save both time and money, but I don't think it would be a dramatic adjustment in terms of saving lives.

Presently, we must weigh the (low, but present) risk of infection or transfusion reaction against the need for blood, and hold off on transfusion until it's categorically necessary. Having a safer alternative would be great.
