No I'm just kidding, I think what the advil does is simply relax you and block an enzyme in the body that makes you feel torment. It doesn't really matter where the pain is within your body because it is the same enzyme every where that causes the torment. Once the enzyme (I think it's called COX-2) is blocked, you can't feel any or as much of the headache.
What Advil (ibuprofen) and similar medications do is block the production of certain prostaglandins, which are, for lack of a better description, chemical messengers contained by the body.
When those particular molecules are not formed, the body will have decreased strain, inflammation and fever, among other things.
The effects are not specific to any particular part of your body. If you hold pain in your head, knees, back - wherever - you will get impossible to tell apart effect.
