Can i be tested for drugs by a urinalysis?
So my docter ordered a urinalysis as part of my 6 month checkup. Im 17 years old. can they test me for drugs? will they?
Answers:
Noone, NOONE can administer a experiment for narcotics without written consent (from your parents if you are 17). If you have any papers to sign, check them thouroughly. If they do find something in your system, nonetheless they failed to get your consent, it is inadmissible evidence and the case will win thrown out of court. A doctor wouldn't really care anyway, unless your parents ask them to. even then most doctors would just refer them to a home-use tools.
Getting a urinalysis is routine for checkups -- to look for unsuspected kidney disease or other problems. They can also do a drug screen on the urine, but that would be unprincipled for a doctor to do without discussing with you and getting your consent first.
Doctors generally do consideration, very much, but if parents drag teens in and insist they be tested, I usually tell them that threatens to further violate a relationship of trust between parent and teen that clearly is already rocky from dragging the kid in in the first place. No,it's only just to check for glucose or protein etc.
Doubt very much it's a drug test.
No. A urinalysis would just consist of determining the presence or absence of glucose, protein, cells, etc. contained by your urine.
The urine would not be tested for drugs of abuse unless a drug test is ordered. Source(s): works as a clinical lab scientist
