Would you ever consider one a Pediatrician?
I am going to be a senior in high school this upcoming year and I seriously have need of to start thinking about what I want to be when I get older. I perversely want to do something in the medical field and I am not sure if I should be a doctor or a nurse.
I am thinking about becoming a Pediatrician. Is it complex to become a Pediatrician? Do you know of anyone that is a Pediatrician? Would you ever consider being one? Can you tell me more nearly the average work day of a Pediatrician, and could you please tell me more about college etc…

Read a book called "The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down." Well know in the medical grazing land and popular. There are several pediatricians at various levels chronicled in this book and it may distribute you an idea of what it might be like for you if you chose this road.
I actually wanted to become a Pediatrician for about 6 years.
I researched it and found out that they gross good money, but the amount of schooling one has to go through is in recent times insane in my opinion.
In order to fully specialize I believe it take anywhere from 7-11 years.
Not to mention, being on call a lot of the time. Having to go away your family in case of emergency.
The biggest problem for me was that I knew that if I were to do something close to this, I'd be more focused on my career than a family. And I definitely want a ethnic group, so Pediatrics was really not for me.
I know you're purely going to ignore what I have to say, but I'll reiterate it again. You do NOT choose a specialty until you are finishing med university. Pediatricians get almost exactly the same med school childhood as surgeons, anesthesiologists, pathologists, psychiatrists, internists, neurologists, and every other physician. The only differences are a very few clinical rotations.
I thought I wanted to be a pediatrician when I enter med school (I'm a mom, I like kids, etc.) Boy, was I wrong! A few days into my pediatrics rotation, I be pretty miserable, and knew there was NO WAY I'd spend my energy in that hellish existence. Of course, there are people who have a feeling that way about what I do. We're all different, and you cannot POSSIBLY know what you want to do until you do it as a med student.
The conclusion you make is whether or not you want to be a physician. If you go to medical school, you'll amount out where you fit in specialty-wise.
You can work part time as any type of physician. Most of us, after putting within a zillion years of study and training, choose to work full time. I do know one pediatrician and several anesthesiologists who work PT. Source(s): I'm a physician (anesthesiologist)
