it's art to be a doctor, they're taught to operate or diagnose etc. and they aint doing any scientific work

Medicine is a combination of art and science. We couldn't do what we do without the science, but there's a great deal of judgment and intuition involved that transcends science.
Depends on your definition. All MDs have taken extensive courses in science and have an kind of the scientific method. After graduation and specialty training, most of us are involved mainly with long-suffering care.
