What does Cx stand for within Medicine?
I thought it was culture, but I'm reading a lecture and i cant figure out this context...
Talking around osteomyelitis:
"necrotic bone is formed when Cx bone is deprived of its blood supply..."
And "The periosteal new bone which forms over the Cx surrounding the infected area"...
Is this just a lecturer using a strange short way around for cancellous?

osteomyelitis can involve both cortical and medullary part of a bone.
Cx in your case is indeed a strange short form used for the cortical bone. i dont think it refers to cancellous, as in x-ray u can see sequestra and involucrum mostly in the cortical bone. Source(s): ortho ward
So far, everything I've found on the internet points to it human being a medical shorthand for cervix or culture, as in cell culture. If that doesn't make sense in the context of your teacher's speech, then you may have to ask him or one of your classmates what it means.
