Use your understanding of the term soluble and insoluble to explain why you must shake a bottle of salad dressing made with grease and vinegar before you use it.

Vinegar (acetic acid in water) is a polar substance while grease is non-polar. Polar and non-polar molecules don't like to interact with one another due to less favorable interactions. Rather, polar molecules resembling to interact with themselves and non-polar molecules like to interact with themselves. Hence why grease and vinegar form layers (at equilibrium). However, if you shake them, you will force the differing molecules to interact with respectively other.
