How long is pulmonary embolism surgery and contained by how long after it will the party get up up? Thank!?
Answers:
I haven't seen surgery for it. It's usually treated with clot-dissolving drugs and anti-coagulation.
We put filters contained by the vena cava to prevent clots from going to the lungs in people who can't be anti-coagulated. That surgery is done percutaneously (through the skin using catheters) and is usually done with basically a little sedation, unless it's part of a larger surgery that requires general anesthesia. It take anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour, depending on the surgeon, the patient and the specific device being used.
Consult your doctor/surgeon and anesthesiologist.
Good Luck.
