i have a surgery next week.. and i would have smoked weed 2 weeks past this surgery .. i know that they blood test before they take you into the operating room to see if you are pregnant and stuff.. will that also drug tryout? will it show? can they tell parents? - will i still get the surgery?
Answers:
I doubt the doctors even care. IF they give you a blood test, they are probably looking for specific things. I doubt they are looking for weed. I don't deem they can tell your parents anyway.
Drug use will not show up on the routine tests done before surgery. To determine if a person uses drugs, a specific lab examination for that needs to be done. They will ask you if you use needle or street drugs. Be honest and tell them. Your anesthesiologist desires to know this. This information may determine what agent he uses to put you to sleep. It is a good idea to stop using the drug as soon as you can before surgery so that the residual is out of your body. As far as recounting your parents, I don't know your age or what the law is in your state. And, yes, you will still get the surgery. Good luck.
Whether it shows up or not is irrelevant. You should let the anesthesiologist know just about ANY drugs you may have used. They hold your life in their hand during the procedure and any information you give them could be vital. I'm sure they won't mind as long as they know about it. And no, they can't explain to your parents. Source(s): Pharmacist
No, it will not show up within the routine blood tests done before surgery, but you should tell your doctors anyways, as chronic drug users may require difficult doses of anesthetic. I have no idea whether they can tell your parents or not, and yes you will still take the surgery.
They can not share your parents because of Dr.- patient confidentiality. Weed will show up on a blood test however, if it were something that be going to prevent you from getting the surgery, they would have specifically asked about marijuana use. Cigarettes are what they ask about. You'll be fine. Good luck next to your surgery. Source(s): Been smoking MJ for over 15 yrs. been in all types of situations.
If you're a chronic smoker yes it will. If they want to tell your parents they will.
