What is the stress of immunoglobulin class switching?
I'm just wondering what the importance of immunoglobulin class switching is. Also I want to know the process of immunoglobulin class switching please. Could someone outline it for me please?
Answers:
Well immunoglobulin class switching is kind of difficult to explain, but the necessity of it is to insure that your body has all the appropriate Immunoglobulin(Ig). You only really start stale with IgM (I believe). Your Ig consists of a heavy chain and a muted chain. Heavy chain consists of VDJ while your light consists of merely a VJ segment. On the website there is a good picture of the process and explains the steps involved as well. Basically the V-D and the VD-J segment reconnect to form the new Ig isotype for the heavy chain and the V-J segment reconnect within the light chain. They reconnect by part of the matter in between the new connecting segments looping out and mortal cut out of the Ig creating the new Ig.
