I transport 4000 IU (100 micrograms) of vitamin D pr. daytime?
The reason why I do this is that it has cured my chronic fatigue which I have suffered from approx. 15 years.
Do you have a sneaking suspicion that this dosage is safe? Anyone has any long term experience near a similar dosage? (I know that it's fat solulable and alle that) I also know it's way over standard recommendations.
I own taken 2000 IU for about two month, but I when I take 4000 IU I feel the best (fatigue 100% gone), so I guess it's my optimum dosage.
Any opinion or similar experiences? Thanks!
Answers:
Vitamin D supplementation will NOT cause "vitamin D resistant osteomalacia." Particularly not at that dosage! That's just silly.
Vit D supplementation has be studied at a variety of dosages and science is now showing us that our RDI for Vit D has be MUCH too low.
4000IU/day is a very common prescribed dosage, well inside the healthy range... The benefits of supplementing at 4000IU of Vit D/day are numerous - including cancer prevention (especially colon cancer!), cardiovascular health, osteoporosis prevention, purely to name a few.
Yes, it's a fat-soluble vitamin. Yes, it can be toxic at high doses... but we're talking long-term dosages more within the range of 10,000+ IU/day. Source(s): Naturopathic Doctor
