What is the most widely used enzyme within the body?
What is the most widely used enzyme in the body? Four that I came up with is: ATPase, CYP450, NADH, and Acetyl CoA.
1. Which is the most widely used enzyme and what motivation?
2. If none of the above, which one is it?
Answers:
NADH and Acetyl-CoA are not enzymes. They are cofactors. And CoA is used in many more reactions than simply carrying and/or activate acetyl groups.
ATPase (F1F0ATP synthase) is the most common enzyme on that list. But I've yet to see any studies on total enzyme counts contained by the body, so I wouldn't say that it's present in greater quantities than any other enzyme.
