Had hammertoe surgery - have anyone ever have this complication?

I had a routine hammertoe surgery 5 weeks ago. The toe seems to be healing alright. However - - earlier the surgery, I had a condition (besides the hammertoe), in which a bone (connected to the hammertoe) had 'lowered' or dropped down within my foot so it was now resting at the ball of my foot.

And whenever I walk, this bone was pressed & my foot hurt. So - I had the hammertoe surgery and THAT's OK now. But the bone contained by the middle of my foot that had lowered to the ball of my foot . . . it has not gone vertebrae up to it's proper place, and it still hurts to walk.

My question is - has this ever happen to someone out there, and what did you/your doctor do about the bone in the middle of the foot? Did it require more surgery? Could it be corrected? What have you had done to raise this 'lowered' bone contained by your foot (that was attached to the hammertoe)?

Please tell me what happened near you. I am now growing very, very worried give or take a few this.

You need to talk to your orthopaedic surgeon. This was a problem back the hammertoe surgery, not a complication of it. I really cannot visualise what you mean by a "lowered bone" in this context, but at least your surgeon could discuss you through the X-rays. Source(s): Retired anaesthetist
