Why is venous blood pressure low (compared to arterial pressure)?

Blood is pumped through the arterial side simply by the pressure provided from the systolic action of the heard. On the venous side, however, the veins are greatly compliant and can even be though of as a blood reservoir. The venous blood does not move along due to the arterial pressure. The venous blood is sucked back up into the heart from the inferior and superior vena cavae and is also pumped upwards by the muscles.
arterial blood flow is flow under pressure from the left ventricle. this is the biggest and strongest chamber within the heart. the veins which flow back to the heart have rear flow 1 way valves that close when the flow is weak and at hand is a chance of blood not moving. and since all vessels are essentially a muscle, the constriction and dilation of them control blood pressure and thats where on earth blood pressure comes from. Think of the arteries as high speed lifts. The blood rushes out at high speed from the heart.
Think of the vein as escalators. They have little valves that chug the blood back to the lungs.
