Where does aldosterone exert its effects?
Answers:
Aldosterone exerts its effects at the level of the kidneys. It enhances the resorption of sodium and water and increases the loss of potassium. It is produced by the adrenal cortex surrounded by response to angiotesin II. It acts at the distal convoluted tubule and the collecting ducts which contain mineralocorticoid receptors. Aldosterone activates the Na/K ATPase pumps causing an increase contained by Na reabsorption and an increase in K loss.
