Are stem cell research alternatives as honest as the actual piece?

I need some good pointers for a paper that I am writing?
I read several word articles saying that scientists are happy with the progress on alternatives but it does not compare it to the embryonic stem cell research. However Obama's direction approved federal funding for embryonic stem cell research. Why is that?

Don't believe everything you read
The scientists who were trying to develop alternatives were doing so only because at hand was no choice. Now that money and stem cells are becoming available the research into alternative methods will be dropped in favor of the more viable method.
