My doctor have increased my dose of citalopram to 40 mg but i hold be agitated and anxious is this majority?
after anothor vist to my doctor he invreased my dose from 20 to 40 mg of citalopram tablets and for two weeks they have made me edgey anxious also very agitated and shake my legs and feel the entail to drink alcohol which is very unusual will this pass and is it normal to have a feeling these affects

Not much else to put in to the answers from snakeman, Except my Doctor wanted to up my dosage a while ago from 20 - 30. I am sure I have not misunderstood him there is a 30 mg. Cant deduce yours wanting to go double just like that. As next to all tablets - dosage should be gradually increased or decreased. Go backbone to him or see an other Doctor if you can, tell them your symptoms. It's ironic some GPs are reluctant to dish out Anti-Depression Tabs, others go over the top with the amount, as so they cant dawdle to get rid of you. "Go on have some of those, they'll put you right. Off you go!"
I'm on 30mg of Citalopram for depression - Luckily I didn't suffer any side effects on the uptake. Quoting directly from the leaflet in my box...
"Uncommon side effects include... tremors, uneven movements"
"Another rare side-effect is known as the 'serotonin syndrome' which is a serious condition that causes agitation, tremor and shaking, muscle spasm and exceptional jerky movements...."
If I were you - I'd go see your doctor and speak about them about your symptoms - they might want to change your dose or try an alternative product.
ps - It's funny - the spell-check offers Cytoplasm for Citalopram ! lol !
alcohol is not a good idea with these tablets. It take a while for your body to except the increased dose. I take it you suffer from depression and or panic attacks. That is what I am on them for
2 weeks? i'm on matching dosage and the only thing i got be a really bad tummy ache right after i started taking them so no its not normal. convey your doctor what has changed since he changed the dosage and he will either drop dosage back or offer you something different.
I take the same amount of citalopram for the last two years, idea anxious and agitated is a reaction, it should settle down within a few weeks, but if it is making you wan to drink etc then you requirement to go and see your dr again as soon as you can.
You should not be suffering on the tablets x
