I'm curious - Is Death a Disease?

If there is any further scientific reading I would appreciate the links.
Answers:
Not sure if you could class it as a disease but when it happens, it's final.
Hello,

(ANS) No!! Death is 100% definitely NOT a disease in the medically accepted sense of the occupancy.

**Death of the physical person & death of the body-mind is a naturally occurring process which is pre-ordained by our genetic put together up mostly & by the ageing process which is itself determined by a biological kind of body clock. The bodies clock has a finite amount of time to run. It is predetermined because the physical body does reach a point of wind up failure i.e. the machine itself wears out & fail.

**Medical Science & even genetic science has not yet been competent to work out or understand why the body clock has a finite running time. Why? ageing happens nor how we can stop it or slow it etc. Drugs or smart drugs may eventually play some role within this process in the future.

no, it is not a desease...death is what u draw from after a desease...
erm, this interview got me thinking! :P I would say that death is purely the end of something, and it has many cause, but that's not a valid answer, so i would say death is probably a disease, yeah =]
You are asking a question that philosophers enjoy been debating for years. Excellent question, by the way.

The answer depends on which group of family you ask (kinda like evolutionists and creationists have different answers for everything).

Death is considered a disease by those who believe in immortality, citing for proof things similar to the current increases in life expectancy from, say, 30 a few hundred years ago to 70 or more. And the expectation unsurprisingly is that the life span will continue to increase, as long as you keep yourself decent (and wealthy).

Death is a considered a fact of life by a more scientific (and possibly pessimistic) opinion. Every time your cells replicate, a little piece of DNA at the winding up of the molecule is lost. This happens because the enzyme that replicates your DNA cannot bind to the very end, so it binds a few groundwork pairs further so you lose those few base pairs each time. Therefore, every cell has a set number of times it can replicate before important DNA begins to bring back lost, which causes the cell to die. Obviously, there are a ton of other mechanisms, but I find this telomere shortening to be the easiest to apprehend.

Proponents of death is a disease, however, demonstrate that in rats that are fed a special, low calorie diet, and are maintain as healthy as possible, life span can triple. However, my personal opinion is that essentially you reduce the speed at which these rats' cell replicate, so you're not increasing the number of times cells can replicate, you're only making the time for each replication cycle longer. My knowledge comes from my ethics, pills, science and philosophy books.
yes. death is a progressive terminal disease which every human being and thing aquires at the precise moment of its own conception. Source(s): im gonna die and so are you.
sadly we all own to die some time .
No, it's more of an irreversable state. Unless it's permitted death, which I think people hold survived. People have died without disease (accidents).
No...
No, demise comes about often as a result of a deadly disease but can come to pass by accident, trauma or old age.
No not a disease just a certainty.
Well i wouldn't say it's a disease because in that is nothing wrong with your body it just AGES as you procure older.

That's my opinion.
I would imagine it is classed as more the outcome of a disease - a diagnosis rather than the disease itself.

:)
Death is the final symptom of energy.
God, give me strength

A disease is curable. Currently death is not.
how can it be a disease if your dead and not alive ?
Diseases are organic conditions you enjoy when you are alive, death means you are no longer alive so it isn't a disease.
It's more of a condition.
incurable disease
