40 mg of Paxil for 3 months - please facilitate?

Dear All,
Kindly please help me as I am not familiar with this med at adjectives.
3 months ago my doc put me right on 40 mg of Paxil (I was just bit frustrated in work). I found out subsequently it's a huge dose and just dont want to take this nasty pill anymore.
Please recommend a sheltered taper of 40 mg Paxil taken for 3 months.
My doc just told me I can stop it anytime with little discomfort for few days. Total BS for me.
Thank you,
Robert
Answers:
Paxil can cause some foul side effects on discontinuing its use. It's usually recommended that you taper down 5 mg a week.
The side effects for a rapid stop of this medication is actually called "The Paxil Flu" and mimics flu-like symptoms. If you are finding that discontinuing at 5mg a week is still unconfortable you may want to drag out the weeks a bit.
Good luck. It's not treacherous. Just uncomfortable. Source(s): CPhT
