Can someone help me solve this question about I.V.'s and hike me through it with the formulas? I have the answer to a. and b., but I am having a strong time with c. and d. TIA!!
The standard concentration of a lidocaine drip is 2g/500ml.
a. What is the concentration of the lidocaine drip in mg/ml?

b. What rate in ml/hr, should the drip run if the dose is to be 140mg/hr?

c. How much lidocaine will the lenient receive in 1 hour if the rate is 42 ml/hr?
d. How much lidocaine will the patient receive in 24 hours if the rate is 42mlhr?
Answers:
C) So if the forgiving is to receive 42 mL per hour. And your answer in A is 4 mg/mL. so you can set up a proportion of xmg/ 42 mL= 4 mg/ 1mL. Cross multiply which gives you x mg(1mL)= 168 mg/mL. So you are going to give 168 mg/hour.
D. You can multiply the answer by 24 hours to take the total for that time. You just figured out the amount for one hour but now you entail 24. 24 times 168 mg/hr gives you 4032 mg/24 hr. or 4.032g/day. Source(s): Pharm D student.
