I'm looking to become a pharmacy tech but I don't want to dribble away my time waiting for positions at pharmacies?
I've been checking out a lot of pharmacies around my area and enjoy not been able to find one that is hiring for pharmacy tech or even cashiers. I know that you can bring back certifications by studying and then taking the exam without wasting money enrolling contained by programs. What do I need to study and learn before taking the exam? What class of material do pharmacy tech programs teach you?

It's been so long ago since I've taken the PTCB exam, I can hardly remember exactly what's on it. Lots of calculation were on mine, from what I can remember. Do a google search on "ptcb" and that will pull up adjectives you want to know about it (www.ptcb.org is the actual website where you can sign up for the exam and get adjectives the info about it). My computer's slow right now, and I can't get to any links surrounded by a reasonable amout of time. There are lots of study guides you can get for it too; I studied for a few weeks before and did okay, but I also know people who didn't study for it at all and were okay too. Those populace were already working in a pharmacy for a few years before they took the exam though.
As far as math--at lowest for retail pharmacies, the only thing you need to know legitimate well is how to calculate days supply/quantity supply. For example, if the prescription is to take 2 teaspoonsful twice day by day for 10 days and you know the bottles come in 100ml, 150ml, and 200ml sizes, then what would you give the lenient? Another example is: take 1-2 tablets every 4-6 hours; quantity 30 tablets. How many days supply is this? If you can numeral out those things, you'll be alright.
I got my pharmacy tech job 6 months after I put in the application for it. Just maintain trying, that's about all you can do. As far as enrolling contained by a pharmacy tech school, I wouldn't waste my money on it. I didn't have that circumstance or the ptcb accreditation--I was just hired off the street. So freshly be persistent at it, and I would definently go back to the pharmacy and introduce yourself in the past putting in an application, that's how I got mine.
