I be not long diagnosed next to duodnal ulcer and enlarged liver and spleen probably from Crestor and Aspirin..?
My family doc states the enlarged liver and spleen are no big deal since it is only minor enlargement. Of course, the closing time a doctor told me it was no big deal deal I finished up in hospital with a pacemaker. Can anybody shed any light on this? Thanks

Although aspirin have a lot of benefits, it also has side effects. It is an acid and will engender your stomach more acidic and will prevent production of prostaglandin E which protects your stomach from the acid present. So aspirin contributes to ulcers. Even if you whip coated aspirin, it will still prevent prostaglandin production.
Crestor and most other anti-cholesterol meds have liver side effects including increase in enzymes, enlarged liver and decreased function. Do you really have need of these meds? There are other blood thinners other than aspirin (generally more expensive too), and there are other ways of decreasing your LDL and cholesterol levels. I would try other meds and hopefully you'll find another that have less side effects for you. All medication has side effects, but whereas one medication may give you side effects, it may not offer someone else those effects.
There are many causes of liver and spleen
enlargement: alcohol consumption, medication
toxification, chemical exposure, hereditary
conditions, biliary obstacle or mal formation,
viral infections, fatty liver, and others.
The cells of the liver can become damaged
because any of those causes above and
more than I did unnamed. The immune
system responds to this damage and causes
inflammation to develop in the liver.
When inflammation occur, it causes the
liver to enlarge in size. If the cause is
stopped and the inflammation is treated...
later the liver cells may heal. However, if
this is not corrected...it can lead to a more
serious progressive disease certain as
cirrhosis of the liver where the cells of
the liver die off and the deformity tissue then
blocks the flow of blood thru the liver and
backs up into vessels that as a rule doesn't
handle this blood and also into the spleen
where it causes the spleen to enlarge within size.
I think you should asked to be referred to or
go to a gastroenterologist. The true cause
of this problem have to be determined....
the medication "may" have to be changed.
All medications go through the liver first
to be broken down previously going to the
rest of the body. Also, the medications have
to be adjusted to how much overexploit the
cells have.
I hope this information is of some help to you. Source(s): caregiver to a liver transplant merciful
