Is it common for Cystic Fibrosis patients to be approaching this...?

I’m staying over at my sister’s house for awhile. My sister’s daughter has Cystic Fibrosis and is 17. I see that my niece eats very robust and healthy multiple course meals every day that my sister fixes and have a good apetite...but she’s extremely thin and is quite underweight if truth be told. Plus she has this feeding tube that’s inserted through her abdomen to endow with extra nutrients every night. So overall she gets lots of nourishment. I’m newly amazed how tiny and small for her age she is despite all this nourishment. I’m just wondering, is this ordinary in Cystic Fibrosis patients?
Answers:
Yes, this is normal in these children. In cystic fibrosis at hand is a cellular defect which results in the pancreas not producing sufficient enzymes to digest the food, so they can have a strong appetite, take in lots of food but not absorb the essential nutrients. The best answer is to nurture often, and to supplement it with a feeding tube, only just as is being done for your niece. Source(s): http://kidshealth.org/parent/nutrition_f…
I actually work with a guy who have CF and he is 34 years old. He has had a kidney transplant and a double lung transplant. He have also become diabetic. He is very small in stature and could easily be mistaken for someone within their late teens. He takes Prograf everyday, which makes his down fall out. He certainly eats resembling a pig but never gains any weight. So, yes, I think this is majority for CF patients.
