I just had my gallbladder taken out roughly speaking six months ago. It was really not that bad. They will make three small holes on your stomach.Just below your rib flash and one in your navel. It took me about a week and a half to be close to everyday. It was fairly easy really. You should really basically take it easy for at least a week and no you dont want to pick up the baby for a while. Take your time getting back up and moving around because you will be very sore if you dont. Good luck!
Gallbladder surgery varies greatly forgiving to patient even with the laproscopy. My friend had surgery at 6 am and be in the car going home by 11 am. I had laproscopic surgery and be in the hospital for 13 days with a 8 month old infant at home. It's very common to have brio bladder problems after the birth of a child. That's what my doctor told me. I never had any problems until it started causing me pain and have to be taken out immediately. My sister and aunt's gallbladder inflammation lead to pancreatitis and had to be that have to be cleared up first then the surgery. My sister in hospital for 9 days, my aunt 2 days, my friend 4 hrs, me 13 days. So it varies greatly. Just be lenient and you will be fine. As long as you have help, you can handle the toddler. I even know of one person that drove himself home from the hospital.
My bro-in-law of late had this 2 weeks ago. He's back to normal presently. After the surgery, he couldn't do any heavy lifting. He wasn't supposed to drive or operate machinery, due to the painkillers. He also became fatigued very efficiently. All of these things went away over the course of 2 weeks but keep in mind that your experience may differ. You may make well quicker or slower than he did. Everyone's different! Seriously, it isn't something to get too worked up about, but it's ok too! ;)
All of your respondents own told you the truth. I had mine at about 9:30 am, and walked out of the hospital that evening. The twinge was gone, and I have about 30 impudence stones, one the size of a pea.

Piece of cake.
Surgery Choices
Laparoscopic gallbladder surgery is the most common surgery done to remove the gallbladder. In this type of surgery, a doctor inserts a lighted viewing instrument called a laparoscope and surgical tools into your abdomen through several small cuts (incisions). This type of surgery is impressively safe, and people who have it usually rest enough in a few days to go stern to work or to their normal routines.

Open gallbladder surgery involves one larger incision through which the gallbladder is removed. It may be done if laparoscopic surgery is not an option or when complications are found during laparoscopic surgery. Most open surgeries go off after trying to do a laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Open surgery also may be the best choice if the blood won't clot well, the anatomy is not normal, or there is too much scarring from previous surgery.

About 15% of citizens who have symptoms from gallstones also have gallstones in the adjectives bile duct.1 Common bile duct stones (choledocholithiasis) can cause life-threatening complications, so they may need to be removed if they are discovered during surgery to remove your gallbladder.

What To Think About
Recovery is much faster and less scratchy after laparoscopic surgery than after traditional open surgery.

The hospital stay after laparoscopic surgery is shorter than after open surgery. People generally be in motion home the same day or within 1 time compared with 2 to 4 days for open surgery.
Recovery is faster after laparoscopic surgery.
You will spend less time away from work and other endeavours after laparoscopic surgery (about a week to 10 days compared with 4 to 6 weeks for open surgery). Source(s): Good Luck
