Just started Zoloft... is this commonplace?

I went on Zoloft for 5 days and quit when the side-effects wouldnt relent. After another bout with depression/anxiety/OCD I decided to try again but I be quickly reminded how miserable I feel. Here are my symptoms:

- insomnia (its 5:57am here)
- deep burning within chest
- sometimes agitated
- always anxious
- sometimes feel the need to bring back up and do something (impulsive?)

I dont feel happy in the least possible so I know Im not manic. These symptoms are hard to deal with but I dont know if this is run of the mill for the first couple weeks or not. Anybody else experience this? Did you ride it out?

Also, I woke up this morning with that heavy "why am I even alive" feeling which I didnt enjoy before.

I would see your doctor. Feeling depressed while taking antidepressants isn't a good thing.

My worst side effect be heart palpitations. Source(s): I have been on Zoloft since 2003.
you really should talk to your doctor about this, near is possibly another drug that they can prescribe that you will react better to...

I took zoloft many years ago, but it takes just about 4 weeks to have an effective change of your behavior. I did not hold any of the side effects you've mentioned.

It's also very dangerous to stop taking the drug suddenly without the supervision of your doctor.
i bet your dose is too strong. try breaking it surrounded by half and see how that works for you
I had the exact same side effects with another medication and my doctor took my off of it without beating about the bush. I was also having impulses to do fruitless things...tell your doctor.
the low burning in your chest doesnt sound good. you should christen the doctor who prescribed it and ask them. when i started zoloft i only got bad nausea, but it stopped after resembling 2 weeks
Never taken it...but I would ask a doctor to make sure. And I go through the same thing, it does get better :) Feel better :)
you have to give it time. never have your symptoms except the need to get up and do something! but don't just stop taking them that's dodgy. believe me it helps!!
-Sorry if this is not the answer you were looking for, but I had to get hold of this off my chest.-
OK.........First off I felt exactly one and the same way, I took the same meds for about a week and like peas in a pod thing happened to me!!(I was getting angry for no cause, there was a weird burning contained by my chest, I couldn't sleep, and I felt really productive like I would start to clean the total house at 4:00am...etc. and I only took half like the lowest dosage possible.) So I stopped taking them and the symptoms started to run away (VERY SLOWLY) I still feel the same depression, but at least I'm not have suicidal thoughts and weird pains in my chest. The Bottom line is dance to your Physiologist and get a different anti-depressant! The side affects almost made me suicidal! SO PLZ STOP THEM NOW!!
Hope this helps :PP By the way Im fourteen......and I hear if you have someone that is bipolar in your people there is a higher chance that you can achieve bad side affects from medication!! *sorry but thats how I was sensitive to the meds, my gram has Bipolar......Thnx!
