Is this a form of OCD here?

My friend recently came down with some manner of mental issue.. 3 weeks ago, he saw someone bleeding really, really bad & it enters his mind several times and makes him have a feeling sick.. other times right before he eats he will get the thoughts and touch sick.. he's losing weight because he's not eating, lost 18 pounds. So now whenever he see something that really grosses him out.. he replays it in his mind and sometimes can't stop thinking about it & makes him seasick. . Kind of like bad intrusive thoughts. The blood didn't traumatize him or anything, he's seen ppl bleed lots times, he's an EMT

What can he do? Is this an OCD mental illness?
Answers:
I'm not a psychiatrist by any means but this sounds more like a PTSD/avoidance type situation than OCD, imho. A psychiatrist would be the right character to see.
My daughter has the same problem :) Sounds like he may want to work on being able to deal next to the sight of blood (with help), or maybe find another job if blood is going to be a huge problem for him. I am duplicate way also and wanted to be a nurse, but I have not because I cannot promise with the sight of blood. Maybe he will be able to overcome this near help. Good luck
