Strattera is a drug approved for the treatment of ADHD. It be originally intended as an antidepressant, but it was found to be of little to no benefit, so the FDA did not approve it for such use.

I took Lexapro (escitalopram) several years ago with no drowsy side effects. In fact, such medication normally induce restlessness for a period of almost two-three weeks while the body re-adjusts itself. Lexapro is approved for treatment of both depression and anxiety disorder. It has little side effects for most race.

Paxil (paroxetine) is another good antidepressant, but it has more side effects. It kept me awake for around seven straight days without even so much as fatigue and I experienced moderate tooth throbbing. (It started with just one tooth, but soon spread to the others.) Erectile dysfunction is also another common side effect of Paxil. It is said, however, once the body get accustomed to it, the side effects will subside. But the antidepressant properties of Paxil were slightly more powerful to me than Lexapro, even though I liked Lexapro much better.

Ask your doctor about these two instead. Good luck =]
I be on strattera when it first came out. I was on Strattera as well as an anti-depressant. The pills is formulated to be a non-narcotic substitute to help you focus unlike similar narcotic based medications close to ritalin and adderall. It does stimulate you in the morning and does help with focus but as far as treatment for depression I wouldnt leftovers my time.
