Will my doctor report my mom that I tested positive for durgs after a regular Physical Exam?
I'm 19 years old!! If so how can i get out of it? HELP!!
Answers:
Your doc won't tell your mom. Why did he even provide you a drug test? That's not part of a physical :P
Since you are 19, your right to privacy is absolute except for a court order or if you pose a risk to others (such as if you told your doctor you were going to kill someone, then he have to notify the police). In the case of drug use, your doctor cannot tell your mother or the police about your try-out results. In fact, he would be in very serious trouble if he told anyone in need your explicit consent to do so. You therefore having nothing "to catch out of" though you might consider the radical idea of not doing drugs in the first place. If you own such poor judgment as to use drugs and then ask about it here hoping to luck out and attain an answer from someone who knows what they're talking about (you did), you really ought to cogitate about asking for your mom's help and support anyway. Source(s): I'm a physician. Also, HIPAA rules and regulations.
By law, you enjoy doctor-patient confidentiality. Even if you were a minor you would still have that privilege. Your doctor can not tell your parents anything going on for your medical information without your direct consent.
