Toxocariasis risk press?

I know that Toxocariasis can lead to loss of vision as a complication but would the agent have to be from FRESH dog faeces to some extent than from faeces that had been lying there a few weeks ? In other words is in that more risk from the larva of fresh faeces ?
Answers:
Toxocariasis is human infection with nematode ascarid larvae that ordinarily infect animals. Symptoms are fever, anorexia, hepatosplenomegaly, impetuous, pneumonitis, asthma, or visual impairment. Diagnosis is by serologic assay. Treatment is with albendazole or mebendazole. Corticosteroids may be added for severe symptoms or eye involvement.
Toxoplasmosis is infection with Toxoplasma gondii. Symptoms breadth from none, to benign lymphadenopathy, a mononucleosis-like illness, or life-threatening CNS disease in immunocompromised people. Retinochoroiditis, seizure, and mental retardation occur in congenital infection. Diagnosis is by serologic tests, histology, or PCR. Treatment is most habitually with pyrimethamine plus sulfadiazine or clindamycin. Corticosteroids are administered concurrently for retinochoroiditis.

Yes, there is more risk from fresh dog faeces than one that's been nearby a while.

This is because it's a roundworm (parasite) and therefore needs a host to reproduce. When they're left lacking a host, they die. So the longer the faeces has been there, the smaller quantity chance there is for a larvae to be here. Source(s): Infectious Diseases Specialist
