Question on medication?

Is it normal for a dr. to give a patient Effexor (2 a time ) AND
the drug Xanax 3 WHOLE pills a DAY?
Im just wondering if this dosage is normal or way too large? Also is it safe to take both of these drugs together?? Thats what i'm worried about.
Answers:
yes
Did you receive counselling for these medications and ask the pharmacist these questions when you had the prescription bursting?

If not, then please call your pharmacy for proper counselling on these medications, and you will carry the correct answer. Source(s): I'm a Pharmacy Tech.
you will capture better answers is you add the dosages.
Effexor comes in a long acting or slow release form- if you are not taking one of those types then 2 75mg doses would be mundane.

as far as the xanax goes- 3 0.25mg doses would be "normal" but 3 1mg doses would not. I would also not expect the xanax to be prescibed long term- probably just until the effexor is working- 2-3 weeks.

even if the pills were 1mg each, you would not OD- the worst that would appear is the side effects would be compounded by taking them at the same time- mostly dizziness and drowsiness.

The benefit of the xanax will be noticed immediately- from the first dose. The effexor will be more subtle, like surrounded by 2-3 weeks you'll be like "hey! I don't feel like crap!"

Again, post the dosages for better answers.
