Would a brachial plexus MRI include the cervical spine and upper lobe of the lung?
I am a PT treating a patient with breast cancer related lymphedema near severe, constant neck and shoulder pain without significant loss of cervical ROM (as within HNP), atrophy of the webspace between 1st and 2nd digits, fasciculation of the fingers, scapular hyperesthesia, no sensory loss, mildly depressed bicipital reflex, signficant night pain.
Onset of shoulder pain be two months ago with severe restricitons in ROM...oncologist is calling it frozen shoulder however, in my feelings, breast cancer frozen shoulder is never this painful. It is also usually only limited to flexion and abduction and this long-suffering has restrictions in all motion....and they are severe. Usually, surrounded by this stage of frozen shoulder, restictions are minimal.
Patient has had a bracial plexus and shoulder MRI...but my concern is with cervical spine metastisis or pancoast tumor or the upper lobe of the lung...would these own cleared this area?

yeah, MRI should cleared the cervical and upper lobe of lung if it was included in investigation, truly plain xray will show if there is lung tumor too. Factors affecting pain and increase symptoms, dermatome and group of muscle weakness will play a role contained by diagnosis.
Faciculation, atrophy and hypotonia is indicative of LMNL. Frozen shoulder alone will not have a sensory and motor manifestation unless a nerve in injured during the operation. Source(s): myself
