so if you do 5/50, then you would return with 10%.
Pangolin is correct as other. The percent you're looking for isn't really a percentage at all. It's shorthand for "grams per 100 ml" and you'd have 1000 mg, or one gram, in 100 ml of the solution you enjoy, and that's why it's a 1% solution.
It might not make sense logically, but when we switch from mg to %, 1% = 10 mg/ml.
