Is dizziness a lead to for concern when taking Sucralfate?

I took my first dose this afternoon and a few hours later I started feeling really dizzy and a little unsettled. Could this be a drug interaction, an allergic reaction, or just a side effect? Also I took pepcid a bit before taking the sucralfate. It say not to take antacids around when you take it, but pepcid is "an acid reducer" so I'm not sure if I shouldn't hold taken it or not..
Answers:
Carafate (sucralfate) is known to cause nausea and dizziness. It's just a side effect. You are correct something like Pepcid (famotidine) as being an acid reducer. It is OK to take beside sucralfate. Antacids are those products which contain calcium carbonate (Tums) and Aluminum and/or Magnesium hydroxide (Maalox, Mylanta). Not OK to take. Source(s): Pharmacist
Talk to your medical professional, dizzyness after medication is never a good thing
as to "antacid" or "sharp reducer", my guess would that they are the same thing, just a interrogate of semantics or marketing types getting a bout of "language inventing"
