Weight loss after gallbladder surgery?
Hi. I'm 15 years old, and about 5' 3" and 150 lbs. I am having my gallbladder removed within June. i don't have gallstones, its just a dysfunctional gallbladder. I had a HIDA scan and it empty 6%, the normal is about 30%. So I was wondering, after my surgery will it be mroe difficult to lose substance, or easier? Or will it not make a difference?
Answers:
your gallbladder releases bile which helps you digest and absorb fat.
So if its removed, your liver will still make bile but you won't have that immediate amount that you stipulation, and fats wont be digested and absorbed as well giving you "fatty stools" which process that it should be a little easier to lose weight because the fat is contained by the toilet. You will most likely be recommended a low fat diet after surgery
