What are the pros/cons of using Methadone and Suboxone?

To help with the cravings from heroin? I am asking because my boyfriend is struggling to stay clean. He be on Methadone, 110mg a day, but he took pain pills, promethazine I believe, on top of that and be always super zonked out or nodding off. Today, I found a bunch of old needles, and some Suboxone, 2 pills surrounded by a plastic bag 2 days ago. He told me he is having a hard time. Which is sounds better for him? And why? Thanks you so much.

It's not the medication, it's him. Using a med to wean yourself off an opiate doesn't gross it easy, it just makes it more clinically tolerable. It sounds like he's just taking the meds to be able to influence he isn't doing heroin, but he's still chasing a high which isn't exactly progress. It won't hurt for him to try Suboxone but inpatient care and counseling may be more beneficial for him. Best of luck to you both. Source(s): A friend of mine used Suboxone to overcome an addiction to Oxycontin.
It sounds like he's only just trading on addiction for another. I guess it's better than Heroin but he be using that on top of everything else too so who know. Better to just stop if you can. It really hard but it can be done.
