There are many different types of work settings for pharmacists, including the retail drug stores you see (Walgreen's, CVS, etc.), hospitals, mail order prescription services, Long occupancy care Pharmacies, and the list can go on even further.
Right immediately hospital pharmacies use the most technology, including computerized patient profiles, automated dispensing cabinets/robots (Pyxis is most popular), automated IV manufacturing devices (RIVA is one), automated delivery systems, and computerized paitent annals.
Retail pharmacies use some automated counting devices, but generally this is reserved for larger stores.
Long term care pharmacies use automated Punch card systems, as in good health as other automated dispensing devices.
Mail order pharmacies use automated counting robotics, visual recognition software, and duplicate patient profile systems that other retail pharmacies utilize.
